En 1969, la delegación militar italiana visitó Alemania para dialogar la compra de los tanques de Leopard, pero no todos los miembros de la delegación estaban de acuerdo con la adquisición de vehículos extranjeros. Los expertos e ingenieros militares italianos especificaron los principales requisitos para el futuro tanque: un ángulo de inclinación en las placas de blindaje, una torreta fundida, un mantelete de cañón y un potente motor Mitsubishi que permitían la producción de un vehículo pequeño, ligero, maniobrable, pero perfectamente blindado. Se tuvieron en cuenta los planes de diseño británicos y soviéticos recogidos por SIFAR-SID (agencia de inteligencia de Italia). Descontinuaron el desarrollo del proyecto en la fase de prototipos y modelaje.

In 1969, the Italian Military delegation arrived to Germany to stablish dialogues about the acquisition of the most recent Leopard tank, but not all the members of the delegation were in agreement with the decision of buying foreign vehicles. So then the experts and military engineers from Italy specifies the main requirements for the future tank, they needed a great angle of inclination in the all round armor plates, a casted turret, gun mantlet and a poweful Mitsubishi engine that allowed the production of and small, light maneuberable yet perfectly armored vehicle. Thay took in count the blueprints of british and soviets recovered by the SIFAR-SID (the agency of intelligence in Italy). Nevertheless the project was discontinued in the phase of prototypes and modeling.
